Swing Bed Program
If you have had a hospitalization and still need time to focus on getting stronger and more independent with your daily activities before you go home, skilled nursing care may be the best option to accomplish these goals. Skilled nursing care at Trigg County Hospital is delivered through a program called Swing Bed. A swing bed allows your physician to "swing" your level of care from "acute" to "skilled" while you remain in the same area of the hospital. Even if you are receiving acute care in another hospital, you can still be referred to Trigg County Hospital's Swing Bed Program.
We have recently added an integrated care component to our swing bed program. Any patients who do not have a primary care provider in Trigg County will be admitted to our hospitalist service. Our in-house hospitalist is always available for the needs of our swing bed patients. The hospitalist clinical coordinator will make rounds on the patient daily and the patient will be able to count on a familiar face to forge a patient - provider relationship with. Patients may return to the care of their primary care provider in another town at the time of their discharge, or if they have no primary care provider, our facility will help them to establish an appropriate follow up provider. The clinical coordinator will follow up via telephone with the patient and the primary care provider after discharge.
If you or a loved one need a helping hand on the way to recovery, the Swing Bed Program at Trigg County Hospital may be right for you.

Trigg County Hospital is a 25-bed critical access facility located near beautiful Lake Barkley and scenic Land Between the Lakes. The hospital opened its doors to the citizens and visitors of Trigg County and the surrounding area on April 22nd, 1952. That day, Former Kentucky Governor, Lawrence Wetherby, made a statement which still very much describes Trigg County Hospital to this day: "There are larger hospitals in the world, but none more efficient or beautiful."
